Amazing Grace School set its precautionary measures regarding the management of Influenza A(H1N1) before classes began.
On July 21, 2009, the administration issued a letter concerning a suspected Influenza A (H1N1) case. The said letter informed parents how to safeguard the health of their children and the precautionary measures to be observed. Disinfection of the school grounds, especially places frequented by the students, was done to prevent the spreading of the disease. With this case, Amazing Grace School suspended the classes for 4 days from July 21 to 24, 2009. Students were given different tasks and activities by their subject teachers as follow up of discussed lessons as ordered by the administration.
Classes resumed on the 27th day of July. Teachers took every student’s temperature before entering the school grounds. If symptoms were present in any individual student, Mrs. Glenda Abaigar, the school nurse, was on hand and took the necessary actions. In terms of any unusual condition, self quarantine for a week was done. Administration, teachers, and students helped hand in hand to prevent the spread of this disease.
Continuous checking of body temperature was observed in the school community.
On August 10, 2009, the administration issued another letter to the parents as reminder to check their child’s condition before coming to school. Proper diet, enough rest and taking Vitamin C supplement were required to prevent the disease. <S>
